A brief introduction
I need to do more writing… this tool to share my ideas with others… perhaps it can provide a platform for me to gain confidence and grow as a writer
I am still a little unsure about the page title… Maybe I’ll go with just “Songs, Sonnets and Reveries” or “Songs, Sonnets and Sentiments” or go full edgy with “Songs, Sonnets and the Reveries of a Reject”. I’ll give myself until post #2 to decide, as #1 is all but ready. Otherwise, I fear I’ll never start.
What I am sure of is: it’s about time I started sharing my writing with anyone who’ll care to take the time to read.
These pieces are by no means finished products, and many are small sparks of inspiration as opposed to fully formed compositions. Think more papier-mâché than precisely pencilled portraits.
Writing, I find, can be an avenue to express the things I would otherwise likely repress. It can also function as an emotional outlet and brings me endless fulfilment and joy. Often, it flows spontaneously in my mind, occasionally out of my mouth, and ever more rarely onto something permanent.
I really should do more writing; for doing more means honing the craft. I believe that by utilising this tool to share my ideas with others, I can inject some purpose and direction into my writing. In turn, perhaps it can provide a platform for me to gain confidence and grow as a writer and open a path to take my writing further than I’ve ever dared to before.
Despite my reservations in sharing pieces of myself, I hope you can enjoy the writing as much as I enjoyed emptying it out of my mind. The cathartic release of words lightens my world: I hope it can help bring some light in yours, too.
I doubt, therefore I write; I write therefore I am.
